There is a gross misconception that Hindus have many Gods and Goddesses. But the Truth is that a Hindu who understands his religion properly, worships only one God. Hinduism teaches that God is the the Ultimate Reality and that is the only one existence, which is spoken of by different people in different ways, attributing different names and forms. One who has realised this truth does not go after any particular name or form of God , but keeps himself engaged in the thoughts of the one and only God and in the service of the various beings in God's creation
The great seers of the past had attributed different forms and names for God because they knew that the tendencies and tastes of people vary from person to person. So each person should be allowed the opportunity to worship God by the name and form which appeals to him most. That is how different forms of God are worshiped in Hinduism. That is the very reason why there are different religions, who worship the one and only God in different names or forms. .
There is, therefore, no necessity for different religions or different sects of the same religion to quarrel in the name of God.
Those who quarrel or take to violence and massacre of innocent people, in the name of God or religious faith are not serving God, but insulting Him.
