SECRET OF SUCCESS

Swami Vivekananda has said that the great secret of true success is this: the man who asks for no return from his work,  the perfectly unselfish worker, he is the most successful man on earth. It would seem to be a paradox. But it is true.We happen to see that unselfish men often get cheated or even get hurt by others. That is their success and not failure. Christ was unselfish; yet he was crucified. We know that his unselfishness  had been the reason for his great success --the true success that crowned millions  of lives with its blessings.
Giving is strength and receiving is weakness. So give whatever you can.  Want nothing, ask nothing in return. What is due to you, will come back to you in several multiples. But do not think of it now. Your attention should be on what you are giving and give it fully with love and care. Giving is love and asking or desiring anything in return is opposite of love; it is mere trading. In trading there is chance for both success and failure. So let us cease to be traders  and be lovers. Love every fellow- being with all our heart, giving them as much as possible and expecting nothing in return.
We may think that in order to give some thing we have to be rich in material wealth. It is not so. A man who has no material wealth in his possession can help some one in distress by giving a helping hand, or a smiling face. We can give solace to an ailing person with consoling words and personal care. If we have money, we can help the poor and needy with that money. In Sreemad Bhagavad Gita Sree Bhagavan has said:
Dataviamiti yaddaanam deeyathe anupakaarine,
Dese kale cha paathre cha thaddaanam sathwikam smritham .(Gita17-20)
(That gift which is given with the conviction that  it is one's duty to give, at the proper place , at the proper  time and to the  proper(needy) person from whom no return is expected, is considered  as Sathwika Daanam.)
Danam is considered to be the best way for humans to achieve fulfilment of life.Once Devas, Asuras and Humans went to Lord Brahma Deva and asked him for advice to achieve fulfilment .The Lord uttered only one syllable 'Da' in reply to their query. He asked each group if they have understood what He had said. The Devas said:-''We understand that since we are  people engaged very much in sensual pleasures, we should practice 'Dama'( control over the mind and senses) in order to achieve salvation.''  Brahma said they have understood it correctly. Then the Asuras said:-''We understand that we are very cruel people and therefore we need to practice 'Daya' (mercy towards all beings) in order to achieve life's goal. Brahma told them that they were correct in   their understanding of His word. When the turn for Humans came they said:- 'We are very selfish people and so it is necessary for us to practice 'Danam' (Gift) for attaining liberation.''. Brahma approved their interpretation also as correct. Thus  Danam is the most effective way for humans to achieve the final goal of life--that is God-realization. The true success of life is nothing else.
It may, however,  be understood here, that Devas and Asuras  are not separate categories of people living in  far off worlds .They are living in this same world. We can most often see the characteristics of Devas namely, sensuousness , in a person. At times he may evince the character of an Asura. Most of the time he will be a Human in his behaviour. That is to say a Deva, an Asura and a Human are dwelling in the same person as different characteristics. It is ,therefore, our first and foremost duty to ourselves  to become purely humans after shedding off the characteristics of Devas and Asuras inherent in our nature by practising Dama and Daya. Then we must strive to reach our goal through the path of 'Danam' prescribed by Lord Brahma ,
The Success in life means successfully reaching the ultimate goal of self realisation.  Our ancient masters have told us that selfless service or Nishkama Karmayoga will take us to this goal. Let us pursue this path as best as possible. The Lord will come down in the form of a Sadguru  and help us in our efforts,
                                           MAY GOD BLESS ALL

THE CENTRAL THEME OF BHAGAVAD GITA

MAN'S DUTY
Bhagavad Gita starts with the word ''Dharma'', meaning 'duty' in the first stanza beginning "Dharma Kshetre KuruKshetre........" and ends with the word ''Mama'' meaning 'my' in the last stanza ending"Dhruvaa neethir mathir mama " Putting these two together we get "mama dharma" or 'my duty'. From this we can understand that Gita mainly deals with Man's duty in this world. The question then arises, duty to whom? A probe into the answer to this question will lead us to the
central theme of Bhagavad Gita.
MAN NEEDS MENTAL PEACE;WHERE AND HOW TO FIND IT?
What man needs most , whether in India, Europe, America or any other part of the world , whether a follower of Hinduism, Islamism , Christianity or any other religion , or has no religion and has no faith in God, is just one thing and that is peace of mind. But today his peace of mind is badly disturbed , and man runs every-where ,helter-skelter in search of peace. If he cannot find it anywhere, he himself is to be blamed and none else. Having built up an environment conducive to constant restlessness and panic, and having been fully immersed in it, to expect peace is nothing but putting your hand into burning fire and expecting not to be burnt.
Our peace of mind can be disturbed by various external reasons.Death of dear and near ones, diseases to ourselves or near relatives, problems arising from loss of wealth or fame, strained human relationships, disturbances at work-place and innumerable other causes can destroy our mental peace and equanimity. That , one cannot find peace at a place where there is no peace, needs no emphasis. It, therefore, follows that to find peace ,one has to look where peace actually exists. This is what Bhagavad Gita asks us to do and also shows us how to do it.Thus Bhagavad Gita speaks of Man's duty to his own Self.
Having born as a human being on this earth ,what is man's duty? Lord Krishna gives a clear definition of man's duty which can be seen in verse 33,Chapter9 of the Gita :
"Anityam Asukham lokam imam prapya bhajaswa maam" (having come to this world which is transient and full of miseries , your duty is to worship Me.)
How is this worship to be done? The answer is in the next verse 34 in the same chapter:
Manmanaa bhava madbhakto mad yaajee maam namaskuru,
Maamevaishyasi yuktvaivam aatmaanam matparaayanah:''
(Fix your mind on Me;be devoted to Me; perform sacrifices for Me; prostrate before Me; thus having Me as your Supreme Goal and harmonised in Me as your own
Self , you shall come to Me without doubt.)

KRISHNA BHAKTI -THE CENTRAL THEME OF GITA.
It is ,therefore, evident that the central theme of Gita is the liberation of mankind from the miseries of this mundane world through undivided devotion to Lord Krishna.Sree Yamunacharya, the guru of Sree Ramanuja Acharya, the founder of Visishtadwaita cult, has in his Gitartha Sanmgraha, stated that the central theme of Gita is the attainment of Sree Narayana Para Brahman ,which is possible  only through Bhakti attained through right performance of one's duties, supreme spiritual knowledge and non-attachment.
WHAT IS RIGHT PERFORMANCE OF DUTY?
Every man is born with a package of Vasanas(tendencies) acquired through the several lives he had lived in previous births. These Vasanas prompt man to variuos actions in accordance with his inherent nature which in turn are tuned by the Vasanas themselves. Normally every man performs an action expecting to achieve some results out of it.It is the rule of nature that every action has its reaction. Likewise it is the rule of Karma that every action has its fruit and the doer of Karma is entitled to receive it, unless he has surrendered it to the Lord. Thus Good actions bring good results and bad actions bring bad results. The fruits of action whether good or bad, are the knots that bind man to this world  to enjoy or suffer those fruits. It  therefore, follows that any person who wants to escape from this bondage of his Kama must forsake the fruits of his action by surrender to the Lord. That is called Nishkama Karma(desireless action). Gita enjoins on us to perform all prescribed duties without attachment to their fruits. So Sree Bhagavan says:
''Karmanyevaadhikaarasthe maa phaleshu kadaachana' meaning, your domain is only to do your duty and not to aspire for its fruits.
IF WE HAVE NO CLAIM FOR THE FRUITS OF OUR ACTION,WHAT IS THE INCENTIVE TO DO OUR DUTY?
Of course it is the natural tendency of any ordinary man in such a situation, either to ignore or to discard his duty. As if to forestall such a tendency, Sree Bhagavan  warns us: maa karmaphala hethurbhoo maa the sangosthu akarmani''  meaning ,don't  be a slave to the results of your action and also do not entertain the tendency to neglect your duty. Why should it be like that? Because, the performance of our duty after surrendering its fruits to the Lord becomes a worship of the Lord , which cannot be ignored or neglected by a true devotee of the Lord. That is what Sree Bhagavan asks from us.
The results of action come in the natural course. A true devotee accepts them as Bhagavan's Prasadam. As he is totally unattached to them, the good or bad about them is not a concern for him. The performance of all actions by a devotee is an offering to the Lord and its object is self-purification. Only such a purified self can achieve Supreme Spiritual Knowledge through which one can reach the Supreme Reality.
Thus the central theme of Bhagavad Gita can be summarised as follows:
First concentrate your mind on Lord Sree Krishna and become a devotee. Having become a devotee of Sree Bhagavan,  praise His glories and  chant his Names  incessantly.Perform all your duties as a worship to the Lord with total detachment on their fruits. Thus uniting all your thoughts and actions with the Lord,  you gradually attain the Supreme Knowledge of the Self and become one with the Lord, which enables you to enjoy the eternal Peace, Happiness and Tranquillity.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

SREE LALITA TRISSATHI STOTRAM

This most powerful Stotram relating to Goddess Sree Lalithaa Parameshwari, finds its place in Brahmaanda Purana, as an appendix to Lalithopakhyaana, a dialogue between  Lord Maha Vishnu in the form of Haygreeva Rishi  and Sage Agastya.. Lalithopakhyanam gives the complete story of  how Paraa Shakti( The Super Cosmic Energy) took the form of a lovely and powerful Goddess to protect the world from the negative influence of  Bhanda Asura. After describing the story of Sree Lalithambika, Hayagreeva tells Agastya about the various means to worship Her by ordinary humans for their welfare and security in this world as well as the other world . Among other things, Hayagreeva gave the Lalitha Sahasra Nama Stotram to Agastya  as the most effective medium for worshipping Lalitha Devi. But still, Agastya's mind did not get full satisfaction as he felt that something more important was yet to be heard and it has not been revealed to him.
On being asked again, Hayagreeva  conceded to Agastaya that there was indeed something yet to be revealed  and that was  the most powerful and secret  Stotra namely Sree Lalitha Trissathi Stotra. The regular chanting of this Stotra with full faith and devotion will give the devotee all that he needs to live a successful life and in the end to attain the Divine Abode of the Mother of the Universe.
This Stotra comprises 300 divine Names of the Mother Goddess Lalitha Devi and has been divided into 15 parts of 20 names each. These 15 parts represent the 15 letters in the Shree Vidya Maha Mantra, which is the most powerful Mantra for Devi Upasana. The 15 letters in this Mantra are given below :-
There are are several restrictions and injunctions to chant this Mantra after receiving it from an authorised Guru in accordance with the conventions and  procedure prescribed in the scriptures. But there is no such injunctions for chanting Lalita Thrissathi Stotra, the recital of which confers on the devotee the same benefits as he would derive from worshiping  the Goddess with  Shree Vidya Mantra. The only one point to be noted that the chanting of this hymn should not be aimed at achieving any specific object of the world , but only at pleasing Goddess Lalita Devi. Once the Mother of the Universe is pleased and is ready to fulfill all the desires of the devotee, what is the necessity for him to ask for any specific gift from Her?

Start  chanting the Stotra after reciting the Viniyoga Mantra given below, which dedicates the chanting for the pleasur of Sree Lalithambika..

Dear ones!
You should not be perturbed on any account. Let there be earthquake; let the skies crumble down on your heads; let anything happen. You should never be shaken. Bhagavan is there to save you. Bhagavan’s protective hands are always behind you. There is no other power on earth to determine the ways of God. Today lust anger and greed and other evils, have seized the world and are staging their fierce dance. Murder and looting have become the order of the day. Selfish demons get hold of young children and train them for their wicked deeds. They are trying their level best to mislead you into the path of atheism. But you should never be afraid. Stand united! Remember that all this has happened because of your inaction; you merely preach Vedanta but do not practice it: vain talk without action!  At least now, you must shed off your inertia, delusion and slumber which have hitherto been dominating you. Drive out from your midst the madness of caste system, which has made you the laughing stock of people following other religions.        Oh! My devotees! You should no fear. If you fear, it is the same as insulting me who is protecting you. Whenever fear grips you, take the nectar of Nama. Dear ones! I am the fear of fear! I am fierce to the fierce. Will I, who characteristically destroy all dangers, not save you alone from all dangers? It is  my vow that whoever seeks refuge in me saying, “Krishna! I am yours” shall be taken care of and protected from all fears.
Let the heavens crumble down and fall on earth! Let the destructive fire burn from all sides. Let there be millions of thunder bolts. Let there be fearful cyclones! Let all the seven seas turn upside down. Still, still, my dear children! You should never fear. I will take all of you in my arms fold and protect you from all dangers. You should never forget these words of mine. I am yours! Totally yours!
My darling children! You are now immersed in grief, disturbance of mind, worldly activities, tiredness, and self-forgetfulness. You should not make a hue and cry on seeing this Samsara (material world). This Samsara is merely a dream. I am telling the truth. I alone, without a second, am the only one thing that is eternal. You chant my Nama. Immerse in the ocean of nectar-like Nama and become Nama yourself. There is no object other than me in this universe. The perfection that glorifies the Infinite, the seat of serenity in the serene, emergence of the sky within the sky – all these are in me alone. You look at me at least once, with your eyes purified by washing them with your tears flowing out of repeated chanting of my Nama. Then you will see this entire universe as nothing but me, the abode of eternal bliss.
      Brahmaandaani vinashyanti deva indraadayatada

The entire universe and even the celestial beings like Indra will perish. But my devotees who are blessed with sacred Bhakti shall never perish.
       Satwashudhikaram Nama Nama Jnanapradam smritam
      Mumukshoonaam muktipradam kaaminaam sarvakaamadam.
Nama purifies the mind. Nama gives the knowledge about me. Nama gives liberation (Moksha) to those who desire it. Nama also gives material pleasures to those who long for them.
Nama is the most sacred holy waters (Theertha) to dip in. Nama is the most sacred temple that gives Punya. Nama is the greatest God (Devata) . Nama is the greatest penance (Thapas). Nama is the greatest gift. Nama is the greatest action. Nama is the ultimate Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Nama is the greatest devotion. Nama is the ultimate path to God-realization. Therefore, what should be chanted remembered and recited is Nama only and it is superior to everything else.
My dear children! You, who are reciting Nama, do not have to engage yourself in futile thoughts about the past and future. I hasten my steps to come and uplift you from the ocean of births and deaths. You recite Nama! Recite it loudly!

Indra (King of Gods), Vayu (Wind-God) and Yama (God of death) perform their duties with a shiver, at my command. There is no power in all the three worlds to touch even by their shadow, my devotees who have taken refuge in me. Why more? Even I cannot destroy my devotee who has been blessed with eternal life. My Sudarshana (the sacred wheel in Vishnu’s hand) protects my devotee at all times. You should not be led to fall in a pit, by following the words of perverted people. Do not get entangled in the net cast by those who try to deceive you by their sugar-coated words. You don’t have to think of anything else. You recite my Nama fearlessly and in a loud voice.

Do you know how much you have been a slave to this kind of silly desires over a series of births and deaths?  You must stop this shameful game in lust, at least now. Don’t you hear my exhortation? Come back, my son! You are the child of Immortality. Do not identify yourself with this mortal body. Come back to your own Self which is Satchidananda (existence, knowledge and bliss). Are you thinking how to get out of this dungeon? Don’t hesitate; just recite Nama, it will take you out. You recite and recite Nama and come running to me with quick steps. There is no difference between me and my Nama.  Taking recourse to Nama is the same as attaining me. Even if you are  a pleasure-monger, a person doing harm to others, one who is devoid of spiritual knowledge and detachment from worldly objects, a person without austerities like Brahmacharya (celibacy)  or one who has abandoned all norms of Dharma (righteousness) you need not fear. Whosoever has attained my Supreme abode through the recital of my Nama, that ultimate state is not reachable even by very righteous men (without Nama). My dear child! How sweet is your pronunciation of my Nama! I am excited by that. Therefore, I would like to sit beside you always. Recite my Nama with overwhelming passion. Recite with love, in the loudest tone.

Take the nectar of Nama without break. I will fill your inside and outside with bliss and light. My soothing cold touch will make your hairs stand on end, every moment. Your eyes will not see anything other than Blissful Me.  My dear child, who has earned my love! Maddened by Samsara, whereto are you running to? Don’t run! Come back! Come back to your own empire of Bliss. In this empire of Prema (divine love) there are no diseases, no sorrows and no poverty, none of these. What is available here is absolute Bliss only. Have I not also told you the way to come back here? Recital of Nama is quite natural, simple and easy to practice. Take refuge in me in the form of Nama, considering me as your own. Thereafter you don’t have to think of anything else. I myself will do everything for you. One more thing! If you do not gain adequate devotion and interest in reciting Nama, let it be so. Simply listen to my Nama and then recite it. You will have fulfillment. When even wicked people reach the Supreme state through my Nama Bhajan (recital of Nama), what am I to say about pious ones?

Listen to these words of Truth. If a man chants my Nama with total dedication and true devotion at least once, he will become my equal. It is because his mind takes my shape as a result of Nama Bhajan. Those who take recourse to the Kalpataru (celestial tree in the heaven which fulfills all the wishes of those who goes to it) of Nama, will receive whatever they desire, whether it be worldly pleasures or liberation. Man will become one with me by reciting my Nama constantly. Nama is the Ultimate Reality. And I am that Reality. I am Nama. Recital of Nama is the most effective method to earn Prema (divine love) in Kaliyuga (age of Kali).Oh! Children of Immortality! Easily walk across this mortal world by chanting and reciting Nama. Earn Prema Bhakti (devotion associated with love of God) and revel in this empire of Prema for ever.
