LORD KRISHNA-THE UNIVERSAL TEACHER

Many great Masters have taken birth in different parts of the world at different times. Most of them are considered as masters of a particular ideology, creed or religious community. But Sree Krishna is acclaimed as the Preceptor and Guide of the entire mankind, of all ages and in all parts of the world. Lord Krishna's actions and His approach to life teach us everything that we ought to know and observe in our personal as well as social life. Sree Krishna's life and teachings have outlived all limitations of time and place, because they attach importance not only to the spiritual development of the individual but also to the material development of the society.
It is not an easy task to overcome the vicissitudes of life or to circumvent the laws of nature.Whether it is man,animal or plant, it is necessary for its survival, to fight against odds and strive hard with patience,courage and strength, in the face of severe adversities on the path of life.Only through persistent efforts can any one gain knowledge,development and maturity in life.This is the invaluable message that Lord Krishna conveyed to the world through the example of His own life.
We often come across white beautiful round pebbles in rivers and rivulets.But do we ever stop for a moment and think how these pebbles become smooth and get their beautiful shape? Earlier, it was also the part of a rough mountain rock without any definite shape or beauty. One day a small piece broke away from the rock and rain water carried it into the river.For several years it moved with the water current of the river, rolling over hard rocks, colliding with other stones, and rubbing against thick sand. In course of time its sharp edges rounded off and its rough and uneven surface became smooth and shapely.Thus the beautiful pebble that we today is the result of evolution that has taken place over a number of years. Similarly it is necessary for all beings including men, animals and plants to undergo adversities and vicissitudes of nature.Then only can each one of us achieve the fullness of life.
Once a man saw the pupa of a butterfly.With the hope of seeing a beautiful butterfly emerging from the pupa, he took it home.After a while a small hole appeared on the pupa.He watched it eagerly and saw a worm with very great effort trying to pull out its body out slowly through that hole.A small part of the body came out; but thereafter it became motionless. Several hours passed. Yet there was no change.The man became impatient and anxious. He thought that the worm had got stick up in the outer cover of the pupa.He decided to help it out of this predicament. Soon he brought a pair of scissors and cut open the remaining part of the pupa.The butterfly came out quickly;but what happened?It came out with an extermely bulky body and small undeveloped wings.The man waited for the butterfly's bulky body to shrink and its wings to develop to their normal size and to see the butterfly flying up the sky fluttering its beautiful wings.But alas! His waiting was unfruitful. The poor creature with its bulky body and small wings,without being able to fly had to spend all its life creeping!
The man thought that it would be an act of kindness on his part to cut open the pupa and save the worm from the trouble of squeezing out its body through the small hole of the pupa.But due to his impatience and ignorance, he was in fact flouting the law of nature .When the worm squeezes out its body through the small hole a fluid comes out which enables the body to shrink and helps to develop the wings to develop to their normal size and beauty.That is a natural process which would takes its own time to complete.The effort of the worm in dragging out its body through the hole, which the man mistook as a great ordeal, was in fact the nature's means for grooming the butterfly to its normal size, with fully developed wings and power to fly.This is the law of nature.Due to interference of
man the worm could not obey this law.Thus the butterfly that emerged out of the worm had to suffer the consequence throughout its life, without being able to fly up and move freely in the vast world of independence, like other butterflies.
Lord Krishna taught the world never to run away from the challenges in the field of activity, but to face them with courage and control of mind.Those who try to escape from a difficult situation can never achieve success, happiness and peace.Krishna is the friend of all but at the same time He had no special attachment towards any one.(Samoaham sarva bhooteshu, na me dweshyosti, na priya:Gita-9:29) Selfless is His love to all creatures.Where there is selfishness, there cannot be any feeling of real love and non-partisanship.That is why Lord Krishna is said to be JagadGuru-The Universal Teacher and well-wisher of all.
